The Six Degrees of Separation

The six degrees of separation lead the search for connections

The first degree is a friend just one step away

The second degree is a friend, of a friend, just two steps away

And so it goes that everywhere, everyone, is just six steps away

And that's how Kevin makes those life connections

By meeting more steps along his way

Only two degrees separate a couple ladies on a radio show

Only two degrees separate a couple ladies, internet radio

Bon sois Paris, buenas tardes Barcelona

Konichiwa Tokyo, dobre diet Moscow

And that's all it is

The six degrees of separation lead the search for connections

Two Players

Two players found each other and stopped their playin'

Their friends just shook their heads and looked around

Two players, so in love, with each other

With a healing love that turned their lives around

It used to be so much easier to never get too deep

Past heartache was the reason to join the game

Keepin' things fun and easy, avoidin' any promises to keep

One more failure and things end up the same

Patience is easy when it doesn't take too long

It's easy to love when it comes back to you

A protected heart is so much simpler

Nothin' vulnerable nor waitin' for what is due

Before they found each other they were in some different space

Improprieties had really drug 'em down

So they got back up, dusted off and changed their pace

No more broken hearts only good times and funnin' around

Others' jealousies, insecurities and livin' under someone's thumb

Was the impetus that sent them on the run

No more tolerance for controlling people and terribly demanding ways

That's the only way their lives could see the shining sun

Patience is easy when it doesn't take too long

It's easy to love when it comes back to you

A protected heart is so much simpler

Nothing vulnerable nor waitin' for what is due

Two players found each other and stopped their playin'

Their friends just shook their heads and looked around

How could two players be so in love with each other?

What's this healing love that turned their lives around?

By the time they met, with weary eyes and somethin' in the air

The time was right to respect what the past had shown

Well those weary eyes started smilin' with a notion to try again

So they decided to let it ride and give it a go

Patience is easy when it doesn't take too long

It's easy to love when it comes back to you

A protected heart is so much simpler

Nothin' vulernable or waiting for what is due

Two players, so in love, with each other

Finding Wilson - *Scott/Lane

Walking out in the morning light

Rose-colored rain fills my eyes

Suddenly I realize

I'm standing there naked, yet in disguise

Standing there naked, yet in disguise

Walking further on my way

I lost my name that smoggy day

Knowin' nothing would be the same

I closed my mouth, what could I say?

Closed my mouth, what could I say?

Oh, finding Wilson

I searched and searched and found myself ten thousand miles from home

Oh finding Wilson

Would someone please roll away the stone?

I'm ready for the fight to be thrown

Years of circles treading mud

Buckets full of tears, sweat and blood

What you've got is what you see

I'm half of half of what I used to be

Half of half of what I used to be

I've toyed with women 'til it hurt

Done my time diggin' in the dirt

Shot up shame like never before

Curled up sick on the cold, grey floor

Curled up sick on the cold, grey floor

Oh, finding Wilson

I found a voice for things that once were in an unknown tongue

Oh, finding Wilson

I was ready for the song to be sung

And found the waiting was most of the fun

Find myself hiding behind the symbols

A new creation I resemble

With a hand full of pure potential

And a song on my lip, I'm ready for the rest of the trip

Then one day I met a man

With Hum in his heart and stun in his hand

He shared with my a crooked smile

And said I would search for quite a while

Said I would search for quite a while

And so it was I ran the race

From the pyramids to inner space

To a girl I met who shared my face

And at the Master's table I took my place

At the Master's table I took my place

Oh, finding Wilson

It's not about the getting there but the steps that you take

Oh, finding Wilson

I'll take home all that I create

And a few little things I find along the way

Find along the way....

Dark Heart - *Fate/Lane

I can't wait here for you

When there's nothing to say

Just wait 'til the sun comes out again

And take your dark heart from out of the rain

From out of the rain so no one gets burned again

I can't read your mind

Like words written on the rumpled page

Just wait 'til the sun comes out again

And take your dark heart from out of the rain

I can't wait here in line

Indifferent tones are tying up some precious time

So wait 'til the sun comes out again

And take your dark heart from out of the rain

I can't keep you in mind

And all other things return in kind

Just wait 'til the sun comes out again

And take your dark heart from out of the rain

From out of the rain

From out of the rain

From out of the rain, so no one gets burned again

Goodbye To A Friend

Now friendships start so early and show themselves to us in many ways

From the sandbox where we run and jump

Negotiate and learn about fair play

Then we go on through some years of school

Befriending some who help to lead our way

I've got some friends up in the mountains and not too very far away

I'm gonna head up to the mountains and have myself a better day

She came from out of nowhere

Took my breath, my hand, my focus and my fear

Then she warmed 'em up and untangled them

The best time I ever had should last for years

Then she said the things that I couldn't hear

And I heard the things that she just couldn't say

It ought to be a natural progression

Maintaining good relations every day

And like the stages of a rocket ship

Some friendships are cast off along the way

When I looked at things correctly

Those associations they did have to end

And the hardest thing that I've ever done is say goodbye to a friend

Time changes, people move away, responsibility calls everyone

Marriages and mortgages, babies and some new jobs to be done

Some keep in touch others fade away

And many get so ill too God-damned soon

I've got some friends down by the ocean side

And not too very far away

I'm gonna head down to the ocean side

And have myself a better day

Disagreements, oh-so-plenty, can lead to the beginning of the end

Resisting good ole' self-control and the wisdom that helps you self-defend

Will make you fall into the prideful trap, failing to bleed and then to mend

It ought to be a natural progression

Maintaining good relations every day

And like the stages of a rocket ship

Some friendships are cast off along the way

When I look at things correctly, why do these associations have to end?

And the hardest thing that I've ever done is say goodbye to a friend

To a friend

Goodbye to a friend

Today's Medicine Man

Welcome folks to the medicine show

You've got money to spend he's got minds to blow

Step right and up and spin the wheel

There's a trunk full of goodies, go make a deal

It's what he's got not what you need

A reinvention of things that came from a seed

More than one way to skin a cat

And what he's got is where it's at

A brand new way to do the same old thing

Technology is his best friend

New colors, flavors, shapes and packaging

But it's the same old ruse in the end

Today's medicine man

He's gonna climb the ladder, step on your face

On his way to the top, to secure his place

He's the greatest there is just watch him go

He's got a brand new ride, thanks medicine show!

Drink his slime, come on, try your luck

While he polishes his brand new truck

He says you'll feel like a million bucks

Until you realize that his product sucks

A brand new way to do the same old thing

Technology is his best friend

New colors, flavors, shapes and packaging

But it's the same old ruse in the end

Today's medicine man

Fitness health is all the rage

You can stay at home and earn a living wage

Beauty not brains will help you sell

Ice to Eskimos frozen in hell

Forget his product that you don't need

Pay attention to his popularity

He's the best at foolin' you

Unscrew the cap and sniff his glue

A brand new way to do the same old thing

Technology is his best friend

New colors, flavors, shapes and packing

But it's the same old ruse in the end

Today's medicine man, today's medicine man

Today's medicine man, today's medicine man

Welcome To The World

Welcome to the world, my new, young friend

It's so very nice to see you again

Over miles and miles through years and years

The trials, tribulation and tears

How long did you walk, my new young friend

Before you found out where you began?

And I think I knew you once before

Did you know what was in store?

Were we present for the warming of the sun?

And why did you come here and why did I

Leave those daydreams in the sky?

Where do we go from here and who will greet us there?

Welcome to the world my new, young friend

You are my gift until the end

This journey's ours to lead dear friend

And I'll be with you until my end

So keep your confidence while you're walking down life's halls

And never stop tryin' each and every time you fall

And I think I knew you once before

Did you know what was in store?

Were we present for the warming of the sun?

And why did you come here and why did I

Leave those daydreams in the sky?

Where do we go from here and who will greet us there?

Welcome to the world my new, young friend

You are my gift to the end

Over miles and miles through years and years and years

Trials, tribulation and tears

How long did you walk my new, young friend?

Until you found out where you began?

And I think I knew you once more

Did you know what was in store?

Were we present for the warming of the sun?

Now why did you come here and why did I

Leave those daydreams in the sky?

Where do we go from here and who will greet us there?

Welcome the world my new, young friend

Tweak

It's been such a long time since I've seen your face

Since you rolled down that mountain iIn a ball of disgrace

In a blind rage you ran away, you left everything behind

Thinking that you knew much better, and all you did was lose your mind

You're so tired, your money's spent

You had to scramble just to pay the rent

You're getting sued, the letter's sent

Your baby and his mama they just came and went

You're so tired, your mind is bent

It's time to rise and give life one hundred percent

They've seen you runnin' round the town screeching and spinning your wheels

To compensate for what you're lacking in a big truck, how does it feel?

To lose out on sleep at night zinged out and staring at walls

Blackout boy you can't recall, the moment leading up to your fall

You're so tired, your money's spent

You had to scramble just to pay the rent

You're getting sued, the letter's sent

Your baby and his mama they just came and went

You're so tired, your mind is bent

It's time to rise and give life one hundred percent

Anger driven man you've lost your way

Your mind has melted to the point of decay

Not sure what good reason would suggest in a song

But I'd say to love your self again and right your wrongs

It's been such a long time since I've seen your face

When you rolled down that mountain in a ball of disgrace

In a blind rage you ran away, you left everything behind

Thinking that you knew much better and all you did was lose your mind

You're so tired, you're money's spent

You had to scramble just to pay the rent

You're getting sued, the letter's sent

Your baby and his mama they just came and went

You're so tired, your mind is bent

It's time to rise and give life one hundred percent

You're so tired

White Dog

Out in the fog and to his end

It was left behind and he lost his mind

Puddled around the bend

Balance is lost, senses inside-out

Stumbling in a haze, what is this all about?

Down to the ground, no one else around

And what is that light?

It could not be reversed

No surrender to the flow

We watched him leap, it wasn't for cheap

And then he disappeared, out into the fog

Out in the fog and to his end

It was left behind and he lost his mind

Puddled around the bend

Balance is lost, senses inside-out

Stumbling in a haze, what is this all about?

Down to the ground, no one else around

And what is that light?

It could not be reversed

No surrender to the flow

We watched him leap, it wasn't for cheap

And then he disappeared, out into the fog

Look Around

I grew up in a small town, drivin' crazy, winding roads

Rolling hills, some farmland and some avocado groves

Out of the way, old sleepy town with an evening's ocean breeze

Into my car, off to explore the foothills and the trees

I like to look around, yes I do

I look to look around, how 'bout you?

My mama taught me 'bout the critters and of nature's daily flights

Head to the streams, there's crawdads there and fish that wanna bite

Have a listenin' to that hootin' owl and the coyot's family meal

Pay attention to the natural things, you'll find they're quite a deal

I like to look around, yes I do

I like to look around, how 'bout you?

I like the city, too, just hangin' out, watchin' people pass on by

The women turnin' heads down there, my-oh-my!

You can mix and mingle all night long, there's lots to see downtown

You never know what you're gonna find, you just gotta poke around

I like to look around, yes I do

I like to look around, how 'bout you?

I like to pause and see what other's don't

It's a choice of yes you will or no you won't

You'll see me stop and gaze into the sky

Got to enjoy before the wells of time run dry

I like to look around, yes I do

I like to look around, how 'bout you?

Drove on down to Oceanside and sat down on a bench

I was thirsty for the water's edge and the harbor it would quench

I saw his head bob up and down, that playful little seal

He swam up to me and then carried on, we share the same appeal

We like to look around, yes we do

We like to look around, how 'bout you?

When you look around, feelin' free

Come and look around, with me!

Rose-tinted Rain

I began the morning's runnings so very high

The gracious greystone swept the filth from the sky

For it was cold and the wind was king, reigning over me

While glancing about I couldn't hold back a mighty smile

While watching the fading scenery through periphery

The rose-tinted raindrops splattered on my light-blue wrinkled eyes

From the valley of the sun she kept me on the run

And her voice was clear as a bell

She sang follow me

I don't know and I think I'm goin' crazy

Sometimes I wish I could be so far away from here

Well my good friends tell me that my brain seems rather hazy

And I don't know but I'm beginning to wonder why

Frodo Baggins sloped into the room

Brought from Middle to Planet earth by some mystic boom

He said the dark, long shadows follow and no one is ever there

But to see him on Shire Mountain is very rare

From the valley of the son she kept me on the run

And her voice was clear as a bell

She said follow me

I don't know and I think I'm going crazy

Sometimes I wish I could be so far away from here

Well my good friends tell me that my brain seems rather hazy

And I don't know but I'm beginning to wonder why

Ever since I was a young boy she's entered many dreams

With a smile from around the corner

As if to say "you can't catch me"

"Can't catch me"

So I raced around the corner trying to see more of her face

Never able to gain a footstep

Every dream's a wild goose chase

And it occurred to me that she could be

The one who watches over me, so playfully

Ever since I was a young boy, she's entered many dreams

With a smile from around the corner

As if to say "you can't catch me"

"Can't catch me"

Although I'll never catch her

Behind the shadows she'll always be

My invisible companion

Reassuring me in my dreams

And it occurred to me that she could be

The one who watches over me, so playfully

Follow me, follow me

Open your eyes and you will see

Just open your mind and you'll be free

Chain Link Fence - *Lane/Bowen

Well I say "honey let's go fishing" she says "no"

I say "let's stop for cocktails" she says "go"

I say "baby, I'm feelin' so frisky" and she says "whoa!"

I say "the Grass ain't that tall" and she says "mow!"

Try and convince her when she won't be convinced

Is like tryin' to spray graffiti on a chain link fence

Try and convince her when she won't be convinced

Is like tryin' to spray graffiti on a chain link fence, yah....

Well I say "I won't eat no sushi "she says "yes"

I say "let's play some checkers "he says "chess"

I say "I'll stay in my boxers" she says "dress"

I say "baby, my cave's so tidy" she says "mess!"

Try and convince her when she won't be convinced

Is like tryin' to spray graffiti on a chain link fence

Try and convince her when she won't be convinced

Is like tryin' to spray graffiti on a chain link fence

Still I love that stubborn woman

With all my humble heart

If she ever gave up on me

My world would fall apart

Try and convince her when she won't be convinced

Is like tryin' to spray graffiti on a chain link fence

Try and convince her when she won't be convinced

Is like tryin' to spray graffiti on a chain link fence

Try and convince her when she won't be convinced

Is like tryin' to spray graffiti on a chain link fence

When I Get Home

My father used to say to me "you've got some work to do

Tend to the things your mama say and follow every cue

And if you don't there's hell to pay,

When I get home"

Baja seemed the place to play with Brady and Simone

I figured Lana had to be on loan

Her daddy found my number and I found him on my porch

When I got home

I'm workin' hard, means to an end

And time keeps rollin' on

I need a peaceful place where life slows down

And I can rest my bones, when I get home

My roommates were a bunch of fun and the parties carried on

Billiards, ping-pong, music loud, girls dancin' on the lawn

I wondered what I'd find each night, headin' through that door,

When I got home

My lady ran a bar at night, loved everybody's game

One player charmed her clothes right off

On me she placed the blame

I hoped she'd packed her bags and hit the road,

When I got home

I'm workin' hard, means to an end

And time keeps rollin' on

I need a peaceful place where life slows down

And I can rest my bones when I get home

Still settin' goals and chasin' dreams as I journey through this life

I treasure all the simple things

As I rid myself of strife

I'm on my way to leave the day that's gone

When I get home

I'm workin' hard, means to an end and time keeps rollin' on

I found my peaceful place where life slows down

And I can call my own

When I get home

When I get home

When I get home

Silence in the Courtyard

There's a silence in the courtyard as the public trial begins

What happens next is murder and no one ever wins

Brought up on charges, who knows if they're true

There's a mob on the loose and they're coming after you

Justice comes in batches from the one who's in control

And when he calls for the hammer some heads are gonna roll

There's a silence in the courtyard tonight

Silence in the courtyard tonight

There's a silence in the courtyard as the public trial begins

What happens next is murder and no one ever wins

Brought up on charges, who knows if they're true

There's a mob on the loose and they're coming after you

Justice comes in batches from the one who's in control

And when he calls for the hammer some heads are gonna roll

There's a silence in the courtyard tonight

Silence in the courtyard tonight

Silence in the courtyard, silence in the courtyard, tonight

Whiskey or Salmon

Wes was a mess last Friday night

It was the whiskey or the salmon

Well I don't know when it hit the floor

'Cause we were busy jammin'

Oh yah, all right, we were busy jammin'

It was the fourth of July, Independence Day

And we took our show on the road

So Wes he took to movin' our gear

Glad to bear a heavy load

Oh yah, all right, glad to bear a heavy load

Thanks a lot, Wes, "hey, no problem man

Just keep the liquor flowin'"

Packin' gear and slammin' beer

Pretty drunk without even knowin'

Oh yah, all right, pretty drunk without even knowin'

Wes was the first to the buffet line

Once his job was done

Eatin' and a grinnin' and applaudin' the band

He sure was fan number one

Oh yah, all right, he sure was fan number one

Well it caught up to him halfway through the show

He found himself a comfy chair

With a tip of his cap and a drunken smile

He let it fly through the air

Oh yah, he let it fly through the air

The whiskey or the salmon

The whiskey or the salmon

The whiskey or the salmon

Sailing To Venus

Riding along in the dark shadows after dusk

On a lake in a canyon next to you

An indigo canvas filled with holes, revealing light

The first and brightest of which I seek the passage to

I want to climb the mountain so high

Like I did when I was a child

I want to climb the mountain so high

Won't you stay with me for a while, just for a while?

Riding along in the dark shadows after dusk

On a lake in a canyon next to you

An indigo canvas filled with holes, revealing light

The first and brightest of which I seek the passage to

I want to climb the mountain so high

Like I did when I was a child

I want to climb the mountain so high

Won't you stay with me for a while, just for a while?

No Thanks

Driving home from an amazing day with you

Filled with gladness and the hopes that this one's true

It's been a while since I've let somebody in

And I've tired from failing time and time again

Your availability was so wonderful you see

'Til your emotions sent you back into his tree

You had me on a platter and you spit in my eye

Now you've come on back for a second try, no thank you

Well no thank you

So I window shopped online just in the nick of time

To distract myself and try to ease the pain

Of being played the fool, trying to keep my spirit cool

What's the harm in mixing with a few?

With my senses numb, I started acting pretty dumb

And put myself within the range of fire again

You had me on a platter and you turned me away

Now you come on back with some games to play, no thank you

Well no thank you

Because I've been, with so many just like you

My reputation is of a man who can't be true

Casting stones, judgement at my bones

Will not deter me from keeping hopes alive

So I walk my walk in stride, smile with my head held high

And dream my dreams knowing this was true

You had me on a platter and you spit in my eye

Now you've come on back for a second try, no thank you

Well no thank you

Driving home from an amazing day with you

Filled with gladness and the hopes that this one's true

It's been a while since I let somebody in

And I've tired from failing time and time again....

Glad To Slow Down - *Lane/Bowen

I was backing out at Walmart when two girls they moseyed by

Sittin' glued to my rearview, I really didn't mind

Four shiny, studded pockets, man, those girls knew how to rock it

Watchin' studded pockets mosey by, mosey by

Sometimes, you're glad to slow on down

Life is flyin' by and it won't come back around

An angel shoots an arrow that pins you to the ground

And then you're glad to slow on down, slow on down

Sandy and so sad we had to leave the ocean air

We found a flattened tire and an even flatter spare

Waitin' on the Triple-A we cuddled on the sand

Grateful for our sudden change of plans, change of plans

Sometimes you're glad to slow on down

Life is flyin' by and it won't come back around

An angel shoots an arrow that pins you to the ground

And then you're glad to slow on down, slow on down

I was typing on the desktop while she googled on the couch

But our work it had to wait because the doggone power went out

She found me with a candle, Lord, on down the hall we want

I'd say the time we had was so well spent, so well spent

Sometimes you're glad to slow on down

Life is flyin' by and it won't come back around

An angel shoots an arrow that pins you to the ground

And then you're glad to slow on down, slow on down

Sometimes, you're glad to slow on down

Life is flyin' by and it won't come back around

An angel shoots an arrow that pins you to the ground

And then you're glad to slow on down....slow on down

Everything Is A Song

Stuck my head out the window, what did I see?

My band mates headin' up the street towards me

Philosophizin' melodies, scales, chords and charts

Loadin' in the gear once more  we're gonna rock 'til the mornin' starts

Writin' lyrics all day long, everything is a song

Religion and relationships, which one's got the shortest fuse?

People out usin' people to create their powered muse

And my baby, she's unhappy 'cause I won't live under a thumb

These power trips and mind controls they've got me feelin' numb

And no matter who is right or wrong, everything is a song

History repeats itself, years on end through time

Leaders leading nations, dictators and war crimes

Moon walks, Mars probes, scientific gain

Oil spills, extinction and some economic shame

It matters not which side you're on, everything is a song

Stuck my head out the window, what did I see?

My band mates headin' up the street towards me

Philosophizin' melodies, scales, chords and charts

Loadin' in the gear once more we're gonna rock 'til the mornin' starts

Writin' lyrics all day long, everything is a song

While I'm writin' lyrics all day long, everything is a song

While I'm writin' lyrics all day long, everything is a song

Toltec Wisdom

Mr. Toltec man with a cloud in his hand

Can't you see him up there in the sky?

Let me take you to a time many years ago

Where God and man together did fly

Smokey Mirror was a man who once slept in a cave

Waking up to understanding the light

He said "we're in-between the stars where harmony dwells

Among the images that are making things bright

Mr. Toltec man, with a cloud in his hand

It's kinda good to hear stories, from many years ago

And not about a religion but a way that thinkin' people flowed

So many legends in common, so many miles between

And one without knowing the other

Students and teachers they did gather around

At the pyramids where man became God, Teotihuacan

Everything is God

Veiled in secrecy for hundreds of years still the Nagual he passed it on

Ancient prophecies told of a coming time when this way of life would be reborn, would be reborn, this way of life, ancient prophecies yah

Now you know you're only livin' a dream

You're dreaming with your brain awake

You're doin' things good and right

For the goodness of for goodness' sake

Eliminatin' person suffering under any circumstance

It's time to start your transformation, yah

Mr. Toltec man with a cloud in your hand

Did you ever have to wonder why?

The agreements and the ways of living consciously

Would end up buried under the sky

The code of language and the outside dream

Hooked us into the rules of belief

The inner judge in all of us was learned from birth

And this book of law will send you to grief

Mr. Toltec man, with a cloud in your hand

It's kind good to hear stories from many years ago

And not about a religion but a way that thinkin' people flowed

So many legends in common, so many miles in-between

And one without knowing the other

Courageous while you challenge beliefs

Breakin' out from under mind control

A mental prison can be avoided and it's more than just a kneelin' plea

Strengthen up your mind through calmness

Never ever live the dream in fear

Understand your evident truths, pay attention and you will hear

Mr. Toltec man, with a cloud in his hand, yah

Now you know you're only living a dream

You're dreaming with your brain awake

You're doing things good and right

For the goodness in for goodness' sake

Eliminatin' personal sufferin', under any circumstance

It's time to start your transformation
